In preserving the history of Mardi Gras in Southwest Louisiana, a six-room museum has been set up as a tribute, with the largest costume display in the South. The rooms display the history of the festival, the Captains’ Den, costume design, the history of King cakes and the marvel of 12th Night, Jan. 6, each year. The museum also features ballroom costumes, a Mardi Gras parade display, including a parade float that everyone can climb aboard. The museum is located in Central School Arts and Humanities Center, 809 Kirby Street in Lake Charles. |
